Are There Astrological Reasons For Relationship Difficulties?

I recently began a relationship with a woman whose birthday is one day apart from my previous partner, who I was with for 10 years, though there are four years between them (previous partner December 5, 1971, current partner December 6, 1975). The current relationship is not without its difficulties - are there astral reasons for this, or is it my baggage?

Dear Shaun,

There are many similarities between these two strong and unique women. As a matter of fact, all three of you have similar planetary placements with just a couple big differences. And, all of you have placements that reveal much contradiction and complexity. Birth charts with this degree of complexity (planets spread out with many angles) can cause great tension in the psyche of the individuals that are born with them. This tension can cause anxiety or depression or, with the right focus, unusual talents and excellerated growth. I doubt that you will be attracted to a woman without these qualities because they are perhaps mirroring characteristics within you. As difficult as they may be at times, relationships are a gift for us to use to cultivate greater compassion and contentment with ourselves. Once we go through a cycle of hurt, then realization, then gratitude for the learning within a relationship, we become much better at loving—others and ourselves. The work may be hard, but the results should be rewarding.
