The Sun Will Be in Virgo August 23 – September 22
Virgo is the sixth sign of the zodiac, symbolized by the virgins, Artemis and Athena, and its natural element is earth. The energy of Virgo is rational, methodical, and analytical. Like Captain Spock, Virgos value logic, a strong work ethic, and purity.
Watercolor by Philip GaligaVirgos strive toward an ideal of perfection. They tend to be clean and organized, preferring practicality and a consistent routine. To a Virgo, there is nothing like “getting things accomplished.” There is also a concern about the physical body, leading Virgos to gravitate toward health and diet issues. They often have careers in medicine or nutrition.
Because Virgos enjoy purity and an organized reality, they are not often easygoing or communicative. Although quite modest about many things, Virgos can articulate and express ideas well once the topic seems pertinent.
Virgo’s love of logic is not the same as Gemini’s love of thinking. Gemini thinks randomly and comes to random conclusions based on the facts at hand. Virgo bases its conclusions on what has happened in the past. Virgo logic says: if a + b = c then c – b = a.
When balanced, Virgos work and think logically. A Virgo feels best when in service to humanity in areas such as the healing arts and administration. Virgos discriminate, analyze, and communicate ideas in a linear, methodical format. Virgos are in tune with the classifications in nature and motivate us to give proper attention to detail.
When unbalanced, Virgos can obsessively organize and clean to the point where they cannot relax and get along with others. The over-analyzing Virgo can be too critical and demand perfection, which can bring chronic dissatisfaction.
When the sun is in Virgo, expect to feel a need to get organized, to purify, and to manage details. Depending on where Virgo lands in your chart, you may either feel stressed out about the many details that need your attention or happy that everyone else is finally taking things more seriously and getting their act together.
