Why do I always feel like I’m drifting at the onset of spring?

Dear Ann,

Why do I always feel like I'm drifting at the onset of spring? I tend to feel deeply tired, blank, and unmotivated this time of year. It seems like this always happens no matter what I do (I've tried exercising more, changing my diet and activities, but nothing seems to work). Is there some astrological reason for this?

Dear Jan,

Yes! I am happy to inform you that a major astrological transition always occurs around the end of March, beginning of April. This transition involves the movement of Pluto and has been explained on a mythological level in the Greek story of the abduction of Persephone. Pluto, symbolized by Hades, the god of the underworld, appears to slow down, become stationary, and then change direction (go "retrograde") every spring. This slower, then stationary action can have a profound effect on people with a great deal of Scorpio in their chart (or a prominent Pluto placement). Once Pluto appears to be fully on course in another direction, that blank feeling will subside. (Pluto goes "direct" again in the fall.) You should feel some relief around the middle to the end of April. In the meantime, try to take advantage of the downtime by getting some extra rest and maybe catching up on some Academy Award winning movies!
