Pisces is the 12th and final sign of the zodiac, symbolized by Neptune, the god of the seas, and its natural element is water. Pisces has the energy of endings, mergers, unconsciousness, intuition, and dreams. Although Poseidon is characterized as a ruthless male god; Pisces is actually considered a feminine and very passive energy. Generally quiet and shy, Pisces are mutable like chameleons, and often take on the characteristics of those they spend the most time with.

Whereas the other water signs, Cancer and Scorpio, can go down into it, Pisces is constantly affected by collective energies. Because of this, Pisces people tend to have a lot of empathy for others and carry the weight of the world on their shoulders through their intuition and psychic experiences.

Because Pisces is in constant merger, they tend to be watery and boundary-less and lack identity strength. People with a lot of Pisces in their chart tend to gravitate toward music, and the arts as well as spirituality and drugs and alcohol. As Pisces rules union with the unconscious, it also naturally rules sleep and dreams and dream-like pursuits such as photography, television, and film.

When balanced, Pisces inspires us creatively and enables us to have great empathy and compassion for others. Pisces is flowing, artistic, emotional, and dreamy. Pisces people act as a doorway for other energies to flow through.

When unbalanced, Pisces are too passive and changeable and cannot lift themselves up to find solutions. In severe cases, they may seek constant escape through drugs and alcohol. As Pisces is always mirroring what it comes into contact with, it often tries to achieve constant merger with another in order to feel grounded. Pisces can also feel small and victimized by others who thwart their dreamlike reality with threats of responsibility and structure. Pisces can be incredibly lazy and irresponsible.
